The restoration events depicted in Nehemiah 8 are a good example to the Church today of what our attitude towards the teachings of scripture should be, especially as we enter a new year. On the first day of the seventh month (the Jewish new year), the people gathered at the Water Gate in Jerusalem and called Ezra to read and explain the Law.
